Metegol, an animated 3D adventure tale by Argentine Director Juan José Campanella opened the 2nd Annual Baja International Film Festival on Wednesday, November 13, 2013. The Cultural Pavilion in Cabo San Lucas was filled to capacity at the red carpet gala event for the screening of the film nominated for best film by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Argentina.

The Director, producer Gastón Gorali and the actors who voiced the film’s protagonists, Irene Azuela as Laura and Alfonso Herrera as Amadeo were in attendance as were Los Cabos mayor Antonio Agundez, State Secretary of Tourism Ruben Reachi and Baja California Sur native and recently crowned Miss Mexico, Josselyn Garciglia. Festival founders Eduardo Sanchez-Navarro and Alfonso Pasquel also attended the event.


The Baja International Film Festival is a four-day event during which 35 films will be viewed including six world premiers, 14 Mexico premiers and one Latin American premier. Categories for juried competition include The Los Cabos Competition, Mexico First, Mexico First Moviecity, the Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund and the Bengala Award.


The competitions are held to help promising filmmakers complete projects in various stages of production. A total of nearly $249,000 US will be awarded to winning projects in the assorted categories.
