Looking for a cool, casual place on the beach in San José del Cabo?

Zipper's BBQ Ribs

Named for the famous Costa Azul surf break, Zippers Bar and Grill is the place to kick back with a cold one, an awesome view and some seriously good comfort food. Much more than a restaurant and bar, your host Big Tony has made sure there’s something for everyone with swings and a fun kids’ playhouse, a beach club with surf lessons, board rentals and beachwear, five satellite TVs to catch your fave teams, nightly live music, full bar, and a killer mesquite grill that serves up legendary BBQ ribs, steaks, chicken and combos.

Open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., anytime’s a great time to be under the giant palapa or on the deck with the beach just steps away. Trying to decide on what to order from the huge menu can be daunting but you can’t go wrong with the half-pounder burgers, the coconut Baja shrimp, BBQ ribs, Black Angus beef or the fish and chips. Plates are large and great for kids to share. Lots of sides and salads and a veggie burger, too. And if you’re feeling like Mexican food, don’t miss Tony’s Grandma’s Chiles Rellenos. Big appetites love the Mesquite Grill Combos: Big Papa with BBQ ribs and a rib eye, Big Mama with beer-battered shrimp and BBQ ribs, or the Big Tony with shrimp and BBQ ribs. All served with rice, veggies, potato puff and coleslaw.

Zipper' s Fish & Chips

What we love about Zippers – day or night – is that it just feels so good. It’s one of the few old tried and true spots you can’t wait to visit again. Lots of friendly locals and surfers, no pretentions, no timeshare hustle, really cold beers, and great Margs and piña coladas with classic beach tunes a la Buffett. Hit the beach loungers after lunch and enjoy the surf show out front. Or head under the palapa and catch a game with a killer sunset over the sea.

Don’t miss Zippers Bar and Grill on Costa Azul Beach at Km. 28.5 of the Transpeninsular Highway. Five minutes from San José del Cabo, take the exit at the Costa Azul bridge, drive underneath and turn right. From Cabo San Lucas, after Palmilla at Km 27, watch for the lookout (El Mirador) and pass it, the exit is right after the curve just before the bridge. Zippers Bar and Grill is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Groups and parties welcome.
